Subsection 8.1.1 What is Statistics
Mathematics deals with the properties of numbers, shapes, sets, functions and similar objects. Statistics is the much more focused study of numerical data. In statistics, we are given some data and asked, using mostly mathematical tools, to say somehting about the meaning of the data.
